Custom prosthetic eyes made in Scotland

My name is Claire Catherine Moore and I work as an NHS Ocularist at Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow. I have a BA(hons) in Painting with an MFA in Fine Art from the Glasgow School of Art (GSA). Before becoming an Ocularist I produced photorealism paintings for Damien Hirst. With a background in fine art I developed the skillsets for designing and fitting ocular prosthetics, including care for detail, and colour matching expertise to create uniquely lifelike artificial eyes and cosmetic shells.

I completed my training as an Ocularist and worked at the Moorfields Eye Hospital in London before moving back to my hometown of Glasgow. Although I’m very dedicated to continuing my work in the NHS, there is a gap in patient services in Scotland, with patients having to travel to London for an artificial eye or cosmetic shell made out with the NHS. This is why I have started Scotland’s only custom artificial eye clinic.

Based in Glasgow, I provide a conscientious service for both adult and pediatric patients in designing and sculpting a prosthesis to each patient’s unique specifications, whether making a replica of a patient’s eye, providing a new iris colour or collaborating to create a distinctive design. I endeavor to recreate whatever my clients have in mind with patient-centered care at the forefront.
